Greetings and salutations to you all, and welcome to my mid-life crisis!
My name is Zorca. Not your run-of-the-mill, calico-colored guinea pig, no. I am fabulous. I am the grand poobah of all guinea pigs. I rule the house, I rule the cage and I rule over my humans.
What mid-life crisis you ask since I’m only 4 years old? Ha! In guinea pig years that means I’m like 40 in your human years. I have lived through it all, and it has left me tired, cranky and ready to make the humans in this house fully submit to all my whims (necessary or not).
That’s probably one thing I should probably explain – the humans. There are four of them. The first one I call the one I love, she is the one who brought me here, she fed me, she held me, she loves me, therefore I love her. But she left me, she left me for something called college and she left me with the other three. A truly punishable offense, if you ask me.
The two that I believe are her parents, the perky one and the weird one, are tolerable. They coo at me, and pet me, and give me treats. The perky one sometimes gives me baths which can be completely unbearable, but after a few too many carrots (who can say no to a good carotene buzz?) I get over it. The weird one is just odd. He comes at me with a glass in hand and calls me a dog. I think he needs glasses.
Then there is the evil one, oh and how evil she is! When she’s in the room, she stares at me. Unlike the perky one who talks to me like I’m the cuteness that I am, this one calls me a monkey and a spoiled brat – RIGHT TO MY FACE! She taunts me too. She brings carrots or celery and holds it over the cage and makes me climb up the grates to get it! How cruel is that?! And then do you know what she does? She takes a picture of it! Rest assured there will be many venting posts about this abuse of power and her incompetence to understand my greatness. Yes, that is my mission…it’s going to be a battle of wills. But I will prevail, human!
